I did a terrible job of merging the tree. That took 4 photos on a Point and Shoot. But good enough was the kalefe to show the height and width of the mighty tree… and how tiny and puny insignificant his exisitance is.

LOL. But Christmas is suppose to tell you who you really are. To answer questions such as “What on earth are you here for?”, literally.

If you think you’ve the worst christmas this year? Check out the dudes who have to work 24/7!

Happy Bilibala Birthday!

Today feels like a brand-new day! A new beginning!
The irony is that it feels like I have not had a birthday for a long time!

The day has just begun. I am feeling terribly blessed :-)

You too, my phantom readers, the thousands of search engine robots…

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,

and all these things will be added unto you!

Since the time they begin to mow down the mountain around my neighborhood for new housing. Out comes weird creatures from the jungle.

so far we experience more rats in the house, bigger in size.

So far we experienced cockroaches with different shapes and forms.

So far our neighbor has killed two snakes and one just entered my garden ( as told by my neighbor) and hide itself Behind one of my dad’s garden plants.

Maybe one day I will see a bear walking past my front door too!

Saved By The Skin of My Teeth

authored on Monday, December 15th 2008

Such a wonderful mercy. Today on the way to send my sister to a camping trip, everything was fine until on the way back when I saw a train of cars heading my way! in just a short while I saw the reason why. a tree has fallen. The whole trunk was blocking the path of the road opposite me, the Road that I was on two minutes ago!

If I was two minutes late, I would have been under that tree. But by the grace of God, no one was hurt. totally I am grateful that I can spend Christmas in one piece.

The Lord is good! Praise Be To Him!

Angels Guarding The House

authored on Wednesday, December 10th 2008

What a week. I had to read jumpstart my brothers car three times within a month.

Okay, that is beside the point.

If you have been following the news, there was a landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa. I heard there will 5000 people trapped when the landslide blocked the only path in. Out of the 5000 people, nine of them are my relatives and cousins.

The only way out was to hike across the landslide, however my relatives wouldn’t move out of the house to stay with us while they fix the water and electricity supply for fear of burglary.

It’s a good thing they didn’t move in with us because the following day my house fuse fused! Nothing exploded, however there was no electricity. Imagine having 3 families under one roof. And it was 11 PM. Which technician/electrician in their right mind would work at this late hour, more over the next day is a public holiday.

Cutting the story short, the Superman of the house, my dad, found an electrician stayed nearby and was just on his way back from Singapore. Everything was up and running within five hours.

Oh how we took for granted the sunlight every morning.

Oh how we took for granted the cool breeze every night.

Just then one night, forced us all to reflect how dependent we are on certain things. Some people can’t live without the headphones, some can’t live without the Internet.

The electrician explained that the fuse could catch fire. I thank the Lord for the Angels he has sent to guard this house. Amen.

The Mind Is Such a Beautiful Thing To Waste

authored on Sunday, December 7th 2008

“the mind is such a beautiful thing to waste” was the tag line from red alert of the Russian’s top agent who’s a mind control.

No doubt that is true. Even Einstein used only 35% of his brains. Doesn’t that make you feel inferior?

Some unfounded research says that most humans use only 10% of their brains. isn’t it great to know that you are one third as genius as Einstein?

What could happen if we use on 100% of our brains?

Would the world be a better place?

would we be able to speak every language in the world ?

Maybe we can solve math problems half asleep!

Thanks for the law of thermodynamics, which states that if something if left alone by itself, will deteriorate!

how is the law of thermodynamics related to the mind?

Alzheimer’s X_X

now… what was I supposed to say again?

Bleh.

She Is Such a Delicate Creature

authored on Friday, December 5th 2008

In conjunction with the previous post I was clearing up my database, one of them, the table was 68 MB strong! No matter how I download, I could never make a full backup of it.

However this afternoon I managed to shrink that I didn’t database from 68 MB to only 2.6 MB :-)

you should first understand that in creation of that database, I was very lazy to set the field type appropriately to what I need instead I made most of the fields “text” (which can hold up to 2 million characters) which would bloat up this lady.

The moment I know what I want, and change those text view to “varchar” of only 255 characters, she shrank by 300%! doing the math here that would be 20 MB.

Next , I deleted old archives and that shave off another 10 MB.

Lastly, instead of storing the content I need on the SQL database, I made it to read dynamically. In that sense, I dropped a field from the database.

2.6MB. TADA!

Oh yeah, if I zip the contents, I got it compressed as low as 600 kB

A full day’s work. Now I am a happy man, and she is a gorgeous creature ;)

Yet Again a Breakthrough!

authored on Wednesday, December 3rd 2008

I used to be able to do a full backup on my websitebecause some of the database was so huge, no matter how many times I export them, they would turn out to be of different file size.

The main culprit was the article database. To work around it was to dump or the article into a folder and read from that folder instead of reading from the database. With over 10,000 articles in the article database, one can imagine the limits that it holds.

Cutting the story short, taking just one afternoon to make all my websites up-to-date with the latest quotes, my database has shrank more than 90% of its size.

With that system now set in place, I am able to add another 100,000 articles :-)

PS. Hmmm… if only each article earns me a few cents a day…

Oh Happy Day!

authored on Tuesday, December 2nd 2008

took the whole day to brainwash my computer giving it a fresh start.

As it is, I am barely typing this post :-)

so far from hit to heal,  hate to throw, Kate to pull,  head to toe, I am narrating with my voice.

and so, for the occasional typo blunders, it is worth the sacrifice of the whole just to fix this small problem.

Happy happy me.

PS. I wonder if I will loose my typing skills. Oh well…
